Teacher Consultants for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing

 

A student who is deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) may require accommodations and modifications to the general education program allowing for access to academic and social learning experiences. Oakland Schools provides direct and consultation teacher consultant services in accordance with student Individual Education Plans (IEP).

 

Available services districts may request include:

  • Instruction in auditory skills, language development, and self advocacy

  • Consultation with educational staff and families regarding accommodations and hearing assistive technology

  • Training and support regarding use of Hearing Assistive Technology

  • Evaluation for eligibility in collaboration with local district staff
     
    Services may be requested by the Local School District by completing a District Service Request (DSR), availble through the district's office of special education.
