Orientation and Mobility Instruction
Orientation and Mobility services provide students who are blind/low vision with instruction that allows the student to safely, efficiently and effectively travel within their environment.
Oakland Schools Orientation and Mobility Specialists provide services to students in Oakland County public schools upon request from a local district. Services include:
Instruction in independent travel with home, school, and community
Instruction in the use of long cane, mobility devices and orientation aids
Consultation with educational staff and families regarding accommodations and assistive technology
Evaluation for eligibility in collaboration with local district staff
