Teacher Consultants for the Physically Impaired or Traumatic Brain Injured 


 

Students with Physical Impairment(s) may require services to access the general education curriculum or meet their social, communication or adaptive needs. The Teacher Consultants for the Physically Impaired or Traumatic Brain Injured of Oakland Schools provide direct and consultation services in accordance with student Individual Education Plans (IEP). Services must be requested by the Local District by completing a District Service Request (DSR) and submitting necessary documentation.

Service delivery may include:

  • Instruction in use of assistive technology for written production

  • Consultation with educational staff and families regarding assistive assistive technology

  • Training and support regarding use of assistive technology and adaptive devices for written production

  • Evaluation for eligibility in collaboration with local district staff

A Traumatic Brain Injury may affect how a student acts, moves, thinks learns within school. The Teacher Consultant for the Physically Impaired of Oakland Schools provide direct and consultation services in accordance with student Individual Education Plans (IEP). Services must be requested by the Local School District by completing a District Service Request (DSR) and submitting necessary documentation.

Service delivery may include:

  • Instruction in compensatory strategies for learning

  • Consultation with educational staff and families regarding strategies and accommodations

  • Training and support regarding use of assistive technology and adaptive devices

  • Evaluation for eligibility in collaboration with local district staff
