This series will introduce participants to the research-based principles of explicit instruction used during the delivery of core instruction or
tiered intervention to accelerate the learning of students with IEPs. Principles of explicit instruction can be used regardless of the specific intervention being delivered. Participants will discuss, observe, practice and reflect upon principles of explicit instruction, including: active participation, teaching skills and strategies, teaching vocabulary and concepts, and providing practice feedback. This series will require face-to-face learning, reading assigned chapters outside of class and videotaping with self-reflection as participants apply explicit instruction principles during teaching activities. Participants are required to attend all five sessions, and will have the opportunity to participate in virtual meetings with Dr. Anita Archer.
