The Oakland Schools Department of Special Education is dedicated to providing leadership, services and support that strengthens the capacity of schools, families and communities to supportthe success of students with IEPs.

School districts of Oakland County provide special education services and programs for approximately 24,000 students with Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). Services available to districts include, but are not limited to, consultation and instruction of students with low incidence disabilities, audiological evaluations, compliance support services, access to assistive technology, and professional learning opportunities. All programs for students with disabilitites in Oakland County are designed and operated by local districts, including Center Programs.
